There once was a bat from Botswana
Whose cave-floor was covered in guano
One night he met a fine lady-bat
And proposed to her over the guano
"Lady-bat," said our bat from Botswana
"As you can see by all this guano,
I've been here a while,
But I never could smile,
Til you came along, now I wanna."
"Sir Bat," said the visiting bat-lady softly
"If you want to smile, please, feel free
But as for myself,
I love someone else,
Who lives 'mongst the bats in the belfrey."
With this rejection our bat from Botswana,
He plunged to his death in the guano
He fell with a splat,
And that was that,
That unfortunate bat from Botswana.
I once met a man from Tijuana
Who carried on his shoulder an iguana
I asked him, "What for?"
He said, "Why, to score!
For the chicks, they really dig my iguana."
So the two of us proceeded to a sauna
And showed this one chick our iguana
She said, "Very nice!"
Then darted her eyes
First to me, then to the man from Tijuana.
"Is it yours?" said the chick moving near him
He replied, and I barely could hear him
"Why, yes, he is mine,"
Which made her eyes shine
You may hold him if you do not fear him."
"What's his name?" said the chick of the iguana
"Alejandro," said my friend from Tijuana
But just then she cried
For this lizard had died
From the heat and the steam in that sauna

Women, Women, fish in the sea
Dammed salmon, running free
Round, round, water-wheel turns
Fish to the bucket til the whole school learns
Wishing for mountains of gold
Let bankers die and the miners grow old
Jingle, jingle, the people want change
Money stolen, staying the same
Torches, pitchforks, open the gate
False royalty, meet your fate
Any true heart, get upon your throne
My true love, they will be done
Dummy, dummy, crash the car
Bite your tongue for the worst world-war
Life-insurance, what a cruel joke
Death never paid, left families broke
Children frightened from a bad dream
Single parents, why they scream
But courage, courage, nothing to fear
We shall meet in the hereafter, yeah
Bankers, tankers, grease in skids
Billygoats Gruff, or just skinny kids
London Bridge, falling down
Down with the order of the rusty crown

Teachers of Students
02:50
|
|||
Teachers of students, what are you teaching them?
Why don't you teach them? - bankers are bad!
Your paychecks hang you by puppet-strings
Why won't you teach them? - bankers are bad!
Currency
Flow for free
Pyramid
Technology
The Bible teaches Jesus ejected them
The old money-changers made him mad
Their banknotes, more like some fishing-lines
Throw out a loan, bring a foreclosure back
Oregon's hills
Can't pay the bills
Take to the street
That's where we meet
Teachers of students, what aren't you telling us?
Down at the drugstore to quell all your doubts
Push them down, pops up some kids like us
And now we're the blight on the streets of your town
It's not that we're broke
We just work for free
We take breaks to smoke
Our Longbottom Leaf

Can I get a witness?
05:27
|
|||
There's always plenty of work to be done
Too seldom a job to be found
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
X2
And the people say, this is the Age of Apocalypse
If it is, let's hope we're ready for it
And what's it all add up, up to?
Our time here may be short, mm
And what's it all come down, down to?
Some demons making us sport
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
Land, far as the eye can see
Too seldom my property
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
x2
And the people say, this is the Age of Apocalypse
If it is, let's hope we're ready for it
And what's it all add up, up to?
Our time here may be short, mm
And what's it all come down, down to?
Some demons making us sport
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
Stores, poisoning the food-supply
The unpronounceable ingredients of Death
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
x2
And the people say, this is the Age of Apocalypse
If it is, let's hope we're ready for it
And what's it all add up, up to?
Our time here may be short, mm
And what's it all come down, down to?
Some demons making us sport
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!
Can I get a witness?
Ain't that the truth!

The Innocence of Earth
03:28
|
|||
The Sun
A star among an infinitude
Each one a soul bursting through
From the other side whither we come
And thither on death return
Below
To the center of everything with you
Doffing our molecular suits
Flowing like a river to the sea
Reunited with family
As one
Then back into a multitude
Some of us jostling the queue
Some spreading wing and taking flight
Fewer for the dark than for the light
To love
Drawn like a moth to the flame
From a man and a woman take a name
As winter to the spring gives birth
Into the arms of the innocence of Earth
Afraid
To die on the material plane
Plastering pleasure over pain
Crowing at the head of our ranks
Hurting us and wanting our thanks
To be kind
Some of us have come here to learn
You play with fire, you get burned
Sun, shining in my heart
Leave not one thing dark
The Sun
Wound by its satellites
Wrapped magnetic field-lines
As has happened in the past
Wiped us clean in one blast
|
||||
6. |
||||
This winter, the Sun set red and sank into the snow blanketing the pines bowing their boughs low-rolling hills thick fog fills and moves so slow its banks overflow and in then spills more cold snow - Got nowhere to go but my bills are low in a box made of trees, burning a tree in a stove, and trying not to freeze, I've lost the woman I love, but I found a woman I love.

They're writing songs about us
The only ones they know
While the break-neck pace of the world about us turns
Our backs up against the wall
All the buzz in the world is about us
The magicians putting on a show
Well listen look hear see well sure enough mm
There's always something we don't know
But I'm free, and I believe
I belong, and my time will come
And they'll see, and they'll believe
They were wrong, and they'll come home
This is my hope
This is my prayer
This is my hope
But I don't dare
Ask anything

To the Speechless
03:04
|
|||
I take my life from you, you die for me
Everything I do, you do FOR me
I'm not saying one of us don't belong
Not saying it's you or me
But I take my life from you, and you die for me
It's a miracle we wake up
The same soul every morning
A miracle we wake up at all
With the dawning
We fall and it should be alarming
We fall at night
Into a crevasse that holds us tight

My love has gone away
04:27
|
|||
My love has gone away
And all I can do is sit and pray
She'll come again some day
What's the use? the best of you might say
What good comes from looking back?
I know this is history
What good could come from looking back
When the past is still a mystery?
Why my love had to go
I do not know, she would not say
I can't blame her though
God only knows why, I believe it was me
One time I can tell you O
She wanted abuse from me
This much I can swear is true
Not one bit did she receive
And I know what you might say
A man there ain't unable to cause pain
Yeah, I know, but if I thought that way
What patron-saint would let me call his name?
Forgive me if I have strayed
My heart has grown weary from care
And forgive all the mistakes I've made
Just take my love if you dare
And my love has gone away

Gardens in the Sun
03:23
|
|||
Whither we would wing an we were angels' children
Thence hie, ye obstacklers, to yourn due kingdom!
Poetry the likes of which would win one's true love
Melodies revealing over time as do gardens in the Sun
Clove in twain a globe before a host born witness
Judas behaved better when he made his money and he stole a kiss
Goodbye! Sayonara! Bon voyage! with fanfare
Marvelous accomplishment not seldom enough seen nor rare
Won't you genuflect upon our trips asunder
Whether love weren't ultimately grander than whose fearful blunder
Yes! ye highers-up could ever dominate them lowers down
But lend an 'and for in the end what goeth again cometh 'round

Leavers in Dust
02:48
|
|||
How many people have you met?
You ever dreamt you could fly?
Add it up, tell me: What did you get?
Can you even count that high?
Well, I'll tell you the best news yet
After you die, you can fly
You mustn't trust believers in dust
After you die, you can fly

There was a frog on a lily
Pad in the middle of a pond, and
He said to himself I'll
Never leave this place I
Call my safety zone, my
Home, my dwelling place and
Such was his intent until the
Weather changed then
All around him fell the
Rain and made him wet and
Filled his lily pad and
Sunk it bit by bit, but
O! how he held on and
Rode it to the bottom
Where the murky water
Kept him in the dark
Until he began to fear that
He should have to leave and
Swim back to the surface
Where there's air to breathe
But then there came a light and
To him said my friend
Don't worry, you'll be all right
I'm with you til the end

Why care?
05:03
|
|||
Took time making up my mind
Just to find I'm getting old.
Not dumb but definitely blind,
In a bind, and doing as I'm told.
But I'm tired of being good,
And tired of playing fair.
When nothing's as it should be, darling,
Why care? Why care? Why care?
Chock full of resentment,
Can't bend the rules I'll have to break.
The uncool getting bullied in school:
Hey, play the fool,
Give away what they would take!
But I'm tired of being broke,
And I'm tired of being bare.
When nothing's as it should be, darling,
Why care? Why care? Why care?
Fell in love several thousand times,
Every time a little less.
Got used to the love in life
When I loved the pain in my chest.
But I'm tired of taking back
The love I'd like to share.
Nothing's as it should be, darling,
And that's why I care, why I care:
Why I care
